This Big Boy Room Will Have You Seeing Stars -
Ben is a cute little boy with a shy smile and the cutest little voice. When his brother was on the way, his mom and dad decided it was time to give him a big boy room. His nursery was a robot theme, but they wanted to go to a theme of space while keeping some of the memories he had in his nursery. This is the best thing to have a loose theme you can add anything!
We had to work on big Ben space inspired orderly and took note of all that his parents wanted to re-green and light blue lime processing window with planets on it, red, lime green and white star wallpaper on the ceiling, orange and green lime and UFO illustration robot, box paneling around the room and the mobile planet.
It would have been easy to get overwhelmed by all these different elements that we have been asked to re-use in the room, so we decided first we needed to modernize a little space. We added a few touches to the middle of the century in the room to make it feel updated and more sophisticated. Also in the middle of the century is a bit like the space age, which does not hurt!
From the wall above the woodwork, we decided to keep things simple and paint a rich color of charcoal to create the illusion of space. Then we created "constellations" with white wire nails and coverage we painted white bomb. In fact, we developed a model of how we wanted the constellations to look behind the bed, printed out and applied to the wall. Easy!
When it came to bedding, we found some fun pillowcases robots The Land of Nod. We did not want not to do the theme, so we have paired with simple black paper and white and green quilt, then we added a navy duvet with cargo pockets at the end of the bed
the galaxy sconces on each side of the bed are rejuvenating, and they positively regard the space age! They not only look cool, but they also have lights that can shine up, down or both! We decided to suspend these a little higher to give some height to the room.
The Monte Dorma bed design is a fun addition to the room. It is a little lower to the ground, and you can choose to have padded rails added to keep the little ones from rolling. It is easily customizable and even has a pull out bed underneath for when Ben is ready to add to his repertoire sleepovers (or when he decides brother is pretty cool to hang for the night).
In the left corner of the room, we added a small corner reading corner. The president of Urban Outfitters looks so lovely here. The carpet really ties everything together. It has the same colors as the treatment of the existing window and brings color across the room.
Finally, we found a simple gray convenient that we dress with fun accessories and some octagon shelves that were used in another room. Talk about a find! We had a couple of painted octagons to better coordinate with the room and had a couple more done to create a fun form above the commode. Then we Styled with some fun accessories. You can create a similar look with shelves honeycomb the land of Nod.
We hope you enjoyed this little tour. We really enjoyed taking great inspiration orderly space of this little guy together. Now it's time to design the elder's room. His favorite thing? Airplanes ... Stay tuned
