Designer Tracy Davis, urban housing, recently downloaded this beautiful room for a little girl luck in our gallery. We fell hard for this room (especially poms!), And we asked Tracy if she would not mind answering a few questions about its design.
Tracy, what a beautiful room! Can you tell us some of the main objectives that you hope to achieve with this piece?
Thank you! The main objective in the design of this space was to create a warm and fun piece that transition with the child's age. Materials and finishes were chosen to reflect this objective nothing too immature or too thematic .
Could you tell us a bit about the inspiration behind your window treatments?
I love large scale prints. We found this lime green and white paisley Serena and Lily and drapery used as an accent to gently tie in bedding for a touch of color and fun. I really like trimmings, use them to beautify our flexible materials designs adds a sense of whimsy and delicacy.
We love the way you mix and matching fabrics. How do you find the right balance in the choice of fabrics?
For me, it is the balance the emotional and visual subject. The combination of fabrics in proportion and scale is how I realize that stability.
We are all about the little details here in nursery project and love these poms! Do you have suggestions for our readers on how to add a lot of knock-your-socks-off details to the rooms of their children?
My advice is to ignore the "rules." Add points of interest to both small and large scale. Investing in the details that are personal and go through them with reckless abandon! Have fun and do not be afraid to do something that is just a little different. Your child's room can be a reflection of your inner child!
Tracy has also designed a fantastic playground area adjacent to this room. Discover more details and pictures in the gallery!
