As some of you know, our family started 2012 with a cross-country move. While I was dead set on increasing my boys in sunny California, life had other plans for them, and my husband had an opportunity that simply makes sense for the whole family despite being on the "bad" side.
My 70 ° and sunny bubble quickly burst when the movers arrived. Decide what would happen to our new apartment in New York and which was heading straight into years of storage was not easy. This life-changing event called for some serious discount. And while I had a 22 months old to manage during the move, I also had a huge sleigh crib to treat. After all packaging and bleeding, the last thing I wanted was to lug around a cross-country nursery bedding used for only a few months? Panic then set after logistics reflection. Do keep the crib in the room? How can I get rid of it? Where can I keep? And it was decided, would be my youngest in a double bed to share a room with her 4-year-old brother accelerated.
Like the shirt says, "Little Brothers are awesome"
public rooms are a hot topic in these regions. Pam and I are both doing our part for children (even if it is one on me as she sexes mix). the real question then becomes how can one mom (me!) Manage alone all their stuff? Keep clean and organized is a constant battle with small children. Throw in a small space and small closet, well ... we are here today.
After weeks of struggle with clutter child, I share some proven design solutions and true, more insight into the new room of my boys (still a work in progress). keep it organized the get-go is what makes me to the finish line of each hectic day here in the Big Apple. and please allow me say this ... This is not a design room with three things on the wall, it looks good in a magazine. My children many things. My boys insist on charges of color, their own work of art on the walls and Superheros splashed everywhere
So far so good
Note :. I have the opportunity to sacrifice my office space at home and give the boys their room, but there is something by forcing them to share all hoping to become best buds that is the dream of every mother. I figure it's worth a shot.
I see a little decoupage project in our future
1. Maximize wall space. It is clear that this is the theme of the room. Actually, it's just my way of keeping photos and images out of the closet. Coming from a bigger house, we had so many managers we decided to create gallery-style collages on many of our walls of the apartment. I spray painted a little and re-framed other in white, so that art would "pop", and frames blend into the walls. Not only does it make a major design statement, I also proudly presenting the art collection of my children and some family heirlooms in the process.
2. Purge then edit and edit again. The sole purpose of this exercise is to save my sanity. It seems excessive, but they really need each animal unique toy they received since birth? Just saying ...

3. Limit decorative accessories. Not everything has to be included on the bedside table or shelf. Not only will it look cleaner, you will actually be able to keep it clean with a quick dusting or wiping.

4. If in doubt, go up. This is great for shelving is. My pictures cornices are working double time as excellent space-saving shelves.
My favorite compact solution
5. Get on the ground. This is probably one of the biggest offenders when it comes to the children's room clutter. Suction and keep remote dust bunnies is a constant when you live in a small apartment, so I like to give myself a break and clear floor space by hanging what I can when I can.
Backpacks and are always on the ground
